Congratulations to our own Kelli Walter, Senior Vice President of Asset Management for Partners Capital, on being named a Houston Business Journal 2021 Women Who Mean Business Awards honoree!
Kelli is one of just 78 women in Houston to receive this prestigious accolade from the HBJ, and one of only three in the commercial real estate industry!
The Women Who Mean Business Awards recognize women in leadership roles that have demonstrated excellence in their careers and community, and honor women across 11 industry categories plus the Women to Watch category — which is the category Kelli was selected for. The criteria included career achievement, contribution to company and city success, community involvement and leadership.
Among the questions asked of nominees for the Women Who Mean Business Awards was Why are you someone who is going to make a lasting impression on the industry and city? Kelli answered as follows:
“I love this city. I wasn’t born here, but I don’t plan to ever leave. I think Houston has more to offer collectively than nearly any other place in the world I’ve been (and I’ve hit 4 of our 7 continents). We’re one of the most diverse cities in the nation, with some of the best food (why Michelin won’t come here I’ll never know) and without a doubt one of the best standards of living in the country. I want to make my mark on this city – to give back all that it’s given my husband and me and then some. I’ll be honest – I don’t know what form that will take. But giving back and continuing to elevate our involvement in this city is part of our long-term plan!
Regarding my industry – I believe one of the most lasting impacts you can have on someone is being a good resource for them, whether that’s with your people connections, your subject matter expertise, or just a listening ear. I want to continue to be a resource for young professionals in our industry, and for women in particular. Time is the most valuable asset of them all, and I am always happy and willing to give it to those who need it.”
