Joshua Swank of NAI Partners’ San Antonio office recently committed to fundraising $3,500 for Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas in support of the organization’s “Over the Edge” event. Make-a-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. These children show daily courage when facing extraordinary circumstances, and with that in mind, “Over the Edge” participants will rappel from the 32nd floor of 600 Congress Street in Austin.
“Many of you may not know me personally but I am a big advocate for giving back and helping kids,” Josh says. “I coached youth soccer for more than 10 years and spent a lot of time giving back and helping kids learn the sport I grew up loving. As a coach spending several days a week with kids ranging from 6 to 17 years old, I became very close with many of the families and was fortunate to develop close relationships as a trusted mentor and role-model for the kids to learn off-the-field life lessons as well. Unfortunately, over the years, more than a few families ended up having their children diagnosed with life-changing illnesses that prevented them from continuing to participate in sports, and this stuck with me. To this day, I keep in touch with those families and kids and even though I do not coach anymore, and I make an attempt every year to give back to certain charities that are making an impact on kid’s lives.”
